Meet Our Animals! Padawan the Sloth

Padawan is a Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus). She was born at Living Treasures on July 25, 2017, to Finn and Rey. She has been a favorite to the keepers and park guests. When she was young, she did meet and greet encounters. She weighs 7.5 pounds.

Favorites: Grapes, Sleeping, Lounging around, Hot weather, 80’s humidity hair

Dislikes: Holidays with fireworks, People who tap on her glass

Fun facts:
– Sloths prefer to be in trees. They are clumsy on land but good swimmers.
– International Sloth Day is October 20.
– Prehistoric sloths lived on the ground. There are thought to be 80 different species with the largest being 16 feet tall.
– Without sloths there would be no avocados! Prehistoric sloths were responsible for eating avocados and spreading the seeds to the areas where avocados grow today.
